Standard Market is a celebration of food. Our mission is to make or discover the best tasting products to share with people who love to eat and drink. Under the Standard Market umbrella, we currently have two specialty food markets (Standard Market in Westmont and Naperville) and multiple restaurant concepts, both in-market and standalone (including Standard Market Grill, Bakersfield Wood Fired Grill, Standard Tacos & Margaritas, and The CUBE at Standard Market, located across Chicagoland).
We are seeking servers for The CUBE, the wine, beer & cheese bar at Standard Market in Naperville (1508 Aurora Ave).
The CUBE features 15+ wines by the glass, 12 craft beer taps, and an ever-changing menu of sandwiches, entr?es, shared plates, and cheese & charcuterie boards. In addition to our on-premise offerings, we feature 500+ wines, 250+ artisan cheeses, 250+ craft beers, and 100+ spirits. We are focused on American artisan producers in each category, and we offer the best value in the market. The CUBE also regularly features special events and dinners, based on a rotating schedule of themes and seasonal inspiration.
Our CUBE servers are, first and foremost, members of the Specialty team. They work with all of the product categories to become familiar with them. They are focused on providing top-notch service to our bar guests. The ideal candidate will have a personal interest in wine, beer, and/or cheese, and have a love for customer service.
These full-time or part-time positions will be focused around evening and weekend hours. Full time benefits eligible, competitive pay.
Responsible for exceeding guests' expectations by providing efficient, friendly guest service. Teamwork, enthusiasm, a high energy level, food and wine knowledge and ability to multi-task are necessary for success in this position.
Be able to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
Get along with others and be a team player
Be genuinely committed to ensuring that the overall guest experience exceeds expectations, including greeting guests with a warm, sincere smile and anticipating guest needs
Use tact and good judgment when dealing with guest challenges, responding to their needs with patience and courtesy
Follow all steps of service
Understand and respond knowledgeably to questions about the restaurant and menu
Use sales techniques and present and encourage current promotions to guests
Accurately record and account for all items ordered, process payment from guests, and account for and balance all sales and receipts at the end of the shift in compliance with restaurant policies and procedures
Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
Comply with all safety and sanitation (including handwashing) guidelines and procedures
Be proficient in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment, including the Point of Sale system.
Successfully complete Bassett training
Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
Other duties will be assigned as needed
Safely and effectively transport food to a table of three in a single trip, and beverages to a table of three in a single trip
Communicate in English in order to comprehend and perform/follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
Perform more than one task at a time, calmly and effectively in an extremely busy and stressful work environment
Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
Lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Safely and effectively use all necessary tools and equipment
Stand and walk for an entire shift, including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven and slick surfaces

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
